Flash Survey: Holiday Preparedness

The Question:

When do you start preparing for holiday campaigns?

The Results:

Analysis of Results:

According to the results of this week's survey, the people who run Ecommerce sites are getting an early jump on planning their holiday season strategies and campaigns. A solid 45 percent of our Ecommerce respondents start planning in August or earlier. By the end of September, that number has increased to 65 percent.

If you exclude the respondents who answered "Not Applicable," the percentage of Ecommerce sites who begin planning by September jumps to 70 percent.

It's no surprise that companies start planning so early. For the typical online retailer, 25 to 40 percent of annual revenue is generated in November and December alone. In fact, according to comScore, online retailers raked in $1.25 billion on a single shopping day: Cyber Monday 2011. With numbers like these, the message becomes clear. Smart ECommerce companies begin holiday planning early to ensure they have well-designed conversion rate optimization strategies already in place when the holiday season rolls around.
